You know how different you were from yourself right now after you left the brooding caverns, right? That didn't mean when you were happy as a little troll, you weren't [i]really[/i] happy. It just meant that little Nepeta was happy about different things and in different ways then you!

That keeps happening as a troll grows up. During different stages of their life, they start to feel and express emotions differently, or feel differently. Some individuals don't change quite as much, and some do.
