I'm Samantha Grey... ummm, Eridan's Kismesis. [She coughed once, a little nervously.]

I did want to ask you about them, actually. It's hard to ask him what he expects from this, and while I'm doing ok, I want to do this right... or wrong...

We've been setting boundaries, and since I agreed that we'd only be black [Strike that. She'd convinced him to compromise and let her only be black so she could be polyamorous, and he'd agreed because he didn't want to lose her, but they're both still quadrant hopping morons.] I wanted to know... what's expected of a kismesis. I mean, long term, how do you keep it going normally?

And... how do you keep it from bleeding into the red?

Ohhhh, yeah, Sollux wouldn't take something like that well. But he doesn't take anything to do with Eridan well. I'm pretty sure everyone else would have been mostly okay with it though, but it's up to you! [Nepeta chuckles.] Yes, I know what you mean! He can be a pain, oh yes.

Hmmm, I see. Well, a little bit of quadrant vacillation is normal, you know, though maybe it would be harder for you since you're not a troll?

And as to what's expected of you, well, to keep him on his toes! Keep showing him how you feel and trying to one-up him, give him something to work against. In the end, even if two kismesises hate each other, the idea is that their hatred will make them stronger.

Yeah, I know why he hates him. I haven't brought it up this time around for a reason. Trust me.

Actually, the problem is I don't have quadrants. On the one hand, I don't really like what I am, but I've come to terms with it. The thing is, being with only one person isn't really healthy for them. I feed on energy during sex... too much would be bad, so I need more than one. It's why you having quadrants works ok. A little back and forth is fine, but... we're both jealous. This is Eridan, so if he sees me with someone that I'm not a rival of, well... it's Eridan. What do you think he'll do?

So, constantly sniping at him, trying to duel him, stealing shit from him to make him get it back, getting into a contest to see who can kill the most giants? That's a good thing?

[That is a gigantic lot of information to process all at once, especially when Nepeta's brain tries to black out at the mere thought of Eridan pailing, but she's still doing her best to understand, genuinely wanting to try and help out.]

Hmmm. You're right. Eridam can be pretty possessive, but he does have to realize that if he's your kismesis then he has no right to interfere in your red quadrant. I'm not really sure what to say - finding him a matesprit of his own wouldn't exactly be easy either! Especially not if you get jealous too. [Wow, this is more complicated than she'd thought.]

But yes, that's about right! Those are all good things between kismesises!

I'm ... a lot better about getting jealous than I used to be, but let's be honest. Do you think he'd go red for anyone besides Feferi, however unattainable she is?

I'll... just deal with his fits and make sure he doesn't see my other partners. That should help.

But, well... I guess my question is, what are kismesis who've been togehter for a long time like? Have you ever seen any?

Oh yes, he would. He'd go red for anyone who gave him half a chance! Whether he'd be any good at it and stick with the person is another thing, though...

I've nefur seen any in person, but I've read about them and seen some online sometimes! They're not all that different - they do get more comfortable with each other after a while, so it makes it even more of a challenge and even more rewarding to one up each other!

You... might have a point there, heh. So, the idea is that they try to get to be old rivals, used to the game, but always looking for new and inventive ways to screw with each other?

...ok, then maybe I'm on the right track. God, I... almost feel sorry for anyone who tries that on the ice bitch. Nothing's ever enough to get her attention.

Perhaps that's what makes it work for you! I don't think normal humans have it in them to be proper kismesises, not in the long term.

I don't know... I think it just takes persistence on the verge of obsession for them. Most of them couldn't, but a few are wired right, and demons... well, they're all built that way.

I don't think even all trolls are, so it's not a big deal. I don't think I could ever hate someone enough to keep it up for a long time.

As for Vriska, well if she's going too far then she isn't really being properly black, is she? You're not supposed to kill or permanently maim them are you?

Huh, and here I thought her only problem was that she could never be fucked to actually pay attention to someone that might have been interested. She's always so dismissive.

I don't think you'd want her attention. She gets pretty obsessed when she does get interested in someone.
